Iomega, one of the pioneers and leaders of external hard drives, has introduced Monday its new line up of eGo portable hard drives in multi-colored shell casings made of anodized aluminum (half an inch thick and weighs less than 7 ounces). According to the product’s website, the capacity of the Iomega eGo ranges from at least 250GB to a whopping 500GB. You have an option of connecting the hard drive via USB 2.0 and Firewire 400 (available in some models) and can be used for both Windows PCs and OSX Macs. They are bus powered that only has one cable for its power and data. It also comes with a Y-shaped USB cable for that lets you use two USB ports at a time for machine that cannot power the hard drive with a single port.
For those who want to sport the new eGo Blackbelt, the unit comes with an eGo Power grip belt (which is sold separately for other units) and the patented Iomega Drop Guard Xtreme feature that protects the hard drive when dropped from up to 7 feet.
The 250GB model comes in a red for $85. The 320GB can be bought for $95 (available colors of red, blue or silver). The 500GB red eGo goes for $135 and the 500GB BlackBelt for $140 (available by June.)
